RICHARD SUGDEN (RETIRED)
Richard was born and raised in southern Alberta and practiced law here since graduating from the University of Alberta and being admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1980. He established a practice as a sole practitioner in Taber in 1982 and then was joined by Mark Baldry in 1989. For over 35 years Richard maintained an extensive corporate and commercial practice along with his practice in the area of wills, estate planning and administration, tax planning and real estate. He retired in 2018 and remains an important advisor and mentor for the firm.
MARK BALDRY (RETIRED)
Mark has spent over 30 years practicing law in Taber and the surrounding area. He has experience in numerous areas of future planning, wills and estates, farmland transactions, and farm transitions and succession planning. In addition to maintaining connections with long-time clients, much of his time is devoted to sharing practice tips, knowledge and experience with younger lawyers at the office.
Mark was born and raised in Lethbridge. He earned his law degree from the University of Alberta and was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1985. He began his career in a large litigation firm in Edmonton before moving his family and his practice to southern Alberta. He partnered with Mr. Sugden and made Taber the permanent home for his family and his law practice.
Mark has served over 30 years in various sports, community and church responsibilities which has allowed him to establish many cherished relationships in the community. He and his dear wife Teresa enjoy the blessing of children and grandchildren who bring them much joy and happiness.
Mark’s preferred areas of practice include real estate, wills and estate administration, and general litigation. As of now, he has retired from the firm.

Brandon focuses on business law and commercial transactions, including corporate reorganizations and has developed a practice with an emphasis on corporate and commercial law, agri-business law, real estate, land transactions, wills, estate planning and financing.
Brandon was raised in Calgary and spent time in the United States while earning his undergraduate degree in Business Management from Brigham Young University. He returned to Canada to study law at the University of Alberta and was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 2010. The Taber area has been home for Brandon and his wife, Candice and their children since 2009. Establishing roots in the area has led to many rewarding and satisfying personal and professional relationships for Brandon and his family.

Darin maintains a general practice focusing on personal injury and motor vehicle accidents, family law, mediation, civil litigation, employment law, real estate, wills and estate planning, and more. Darin has successfully appeared on numerous occasions in the Provincial Court of Alberta, the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta, and the Court of Appeal of Alberta.
Darin is a partner, lawyer, and mediator who strives to help you find peace of mind through your difficult legal problems.
Darin graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a B.A. with great distinction in Sociology in 2009. He earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law in 2012. He is a trained mediator and before joining Baldry Sugden LLP, Darin was a successful solo practitioner. He is experienced and effective in family law and divorce law, parenting and separation law, child support and spousal support law, matrimonial property law, and many types of civil court claims including personal injury law and car accidents, contract disputes, and employment law.
Darin also has experience with real estate law, mortgages, and estate planning with Wills, Power of Attorney, and Personal Directives.
Darin and his wife Jenna Wight (Baldry) are the parents of 4 children and they enjoy family time and outdoor adventures. He actively serves in his church and community.

Joel obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Idaho in 2019, earning top marks in Negotiation & Appropriate Dispute Resolution and Advanced Criminal Procedure. He is a licensed attorney in the United States federal courts and in the state of Idaho. Prior to law school, Joel received his Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from the University of Lethbridge.
Talented in negotiation and finding creative, practical solutions to legal issues, Joel is interested in civil litigation, including family, criminal, employment, corporate law, and wills and estates. He intends to maintain a general practice.
